How much blind faith do we have?

Blind faith seems to entangle within our daily lives more than one would realize. To have faith is to believe in something or someone. Blind faith is to believe in something or someone you can not see or touch. Believing something will happen in the future is 'blind faith'. There is no way to make certain that the something will happen until it happens, and in some cases not happen.

I have a lot of blind faith in my children. Now in their teens, my blind faith that they are good kids, let me believe they are fine when not with me. When the kids were little, I had so much more control over where they were and what they were doing. My blind faith allows me to believe that when I taught them not to put dirt and crayons in their mouth, that now they are not putting dirt and crayons in their mouth. It is in blind faith that I believe that I raised smart kids.

Blind faith is different than trust. When designing a wellness plan, I cannot trust that I will lose weight or even not have a heart attack. I can have blind faith in the fact that healthy eating and exercise is good for me, makes me feel better and I know what my body needs with the skills I have acquired. With my blind faith I can make changes that feel good to me and fit within my lifestyle. I do realize that results are slow and sometimes unseen. I will not be able to see inside my arteries when I wish to, to make sure that my low fat foods and fish oils are helping my cardiovascular system.

Blind faith is a tricky thing. Patience is built on blind faith. Although I may have a plan with an end result, the path I take to get to that result must be filled with blind faith, for me to continue on and to believe I am on the right path in the first place.

Can blind faith be related to hope?

Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope is the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.

Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, concept or thing.

As we look at Hope and Faith and even the unseen of blind faith, they all play an important part within our lives and in much of what we do.

Whether you connect your faith to religion or just to your inner being, or to both for that matter, your faith in many things, people and situations reflects much on who you are.

What do you have blind faith in?
