Vitamins and minerals are found in the food we eat, yet we have an abundance of choices when buying them to supplement our diet. How do we know what we are not getting in our diet? Which vitamins are you lacking in your daily meals?
Our body and its systems are super smart, more on top of things than we give it credit for. Our body tells us when we are hungry, when we are thirsty but are the signals that let us know our deficiencies crossed or getting through?
Multi vitamins are a great band-aide when you are not sure which of those vitamins and minerals your body actually needs. The body will only absorb and use what it needs. Vitamins and minerals can only be absorbed and used by the body within a certain amount of time. Whatever is not used or stored by the body is excreted. A supplement with the instructions to take three times per day is more affective to allow your body to absorb and use the supplement.
Some supplements will be the cause of your heart burn, diarrhea etc without you realizing that it is the cause. Taking a calcium supplement that is recommended one per day, cause me indigestion but one that is taken three times per day allows my body to work with the supplement instead of against it.
Getting ready for my make over, and getting healthy overall, making the right supplement choice is hit and miss. I was tested for Vitamin D and need that supplement in a larger dose than once thought. Being a women over 40 Calcium supplements are a great idea, plus I am not very good at getting enough in my diet.
I take Cranberry for my urinary tract health. Fish oil for my heart and skin. This is what I have so far but will be adding to the list shortly.
Taking a supplement three times per day can be a chore. Forgetting to take it will be quite common. It is quite tricky in understanding what is a good quality supplement but reading the label and following the directions are important. Some are to be taken in between meals and some with meals. Be sure to buy supplement with dark containers as light weakens them.
It is easier to take a Multi-vitamin once a day, it is a hit and miss method to supplements. You are really not in control of what your body is needing or using. But to ease your mind there is no problem with this method of supplements.

If you look at your cupboard and you own vitamins, herbs and minerals that were the 'hot news' item of the week.
You can't remember what they are for.
You have owned them for over a year and they are starting to stick together.
